News From the Dyars...

Greetings from Smoky Redding!

We are fortunate in that we have only had to deal with the smoke. However, the fires across the Pacific Northwest are causing untold destruction and we need rain. Your prayers for lightning-free rain are greatly appreciated.

On a personal note, we found an apartment! We’ve been in a short-term sublease for the summer while we looked for a permanent spot to land. The Lord has been so good to us and provided a place that has been completely renovated. All we have to do is unpack! We are so very thankful for His provision and we again have a place to call home.

ROMANIA
Mark had a truly wonderful trip to Romania. It was quick trip; however, a lot was accomplished on
two fronts while he was there:

On the ministry school front, Mark met with Adi Cristzea, the local pastor we are working with, to discuss the progress of the school. During their time together, Mark and Pastor Adi were able to flesh out more of the details for the school. Staffing is an area of concern for both Mark and Pastor Adi.

They discussed both short and long term solutions and have developed an action plan. Pastor Adi was very excited about the curriculum for Phase I and Phase II; affirming the content and focus for each phase is exactly what they need.

We have hit a small glitch in that they currently have no space for a school to meet during the week. The church there has funds, and are working towards finding suitable space, which can be challenging in Cluj Napoca. We want to be prepared to launch the school as soon as they have facilities available so are pressing forward.

Even though this was a short trip, Mark was able to get some ministry time in amongst the Gypsies. He spent a day at a place the Gypsies call Dallas after the old TV show. However, this is like calling a tall guy shorty, or a bald man curly. Dallas is actually built on a dump. Many of them make their living and build their homes from things they have scavenged from the dump. The Gypsies are very suspicious of outsiders, so Mark was able to meet up with a man named Burt who was able to introduce him to the Gypsy community. They went from shanty to shanty, meeting and praying for people, laying the ground work for Mark to return on future trips.

The upshot of this is a wide open door for team ministry. Not only does this provide an excellent outreach opportunity for school of ministry students; it provides an excellent opportunity for short-term mission trips from the States.

We have a big vision for Romania. Pastor Adi has a big vision for Romania. The church in Romania is uniquely positioned within it’s cultural and political systems to have unbelievable impact, and she is hungry for revival.

We look forward to sharing more of the progress and plans for the remaining year in next month’s newsletter.

Yours for the Kingdom,

Mark and Julie Dyar
