Greetings from the Great Greening North,

Spring is finally here. We’ve had (mostly) beautiful weather for weeks, sunny skies and life springing up all around. Juneau is spectacular this time of year, with the Spruce still decked out in their winter black, the mountains still blindingly white, the sky pristine blue, and everywhere vibrant greens overwhelm the beige and tan of winter. By far our most beautiful season.

BUSY, BUSY, BUSY. 
Between ministry and construction, Mark has been so busy that he hasn’t even “wet a line” yet. Almost tragic, approaching the peak of steelhead season and not a day on the water. Ah, well… this too shall pass.
Mark left for California on the 5th for a wedding and a drive through Canada with his father, Mickey. It should be a great time, over 2500 miles of driving through some of the most beautiful country on the planet.

GOD TRULY IS GOOD 
We want to share a testimony with you. Most of you know that our middle daughter, Ellen, is a musical theater student at Western Carolina University. The students are strongly encouraged to try to get work in theater over their summer break and in light of this Ellen had to put off her decision regarding where she would spend the summer. We got down to the wire, just over twenty-one days before her travel date, and she decided to come home for the summer. We had an offer for a mileage ticket, but by now the miles needed far exceeded what we had so we decided to purchase a ticket. Whoops! Somehow the wrong date got entered and the scramble was on! It took days for the refund to finally be credited and by now ticket prices were skyrocketing and we’re beginning to wonder how we’re going to get her home. But our Father is intimately involved in the details of our lives and He loves to provide for His kids. 12 days out and low and behold a seat opens up, Charlotte to Juneau, $360.00! Less than it costs from Juneau to the West Coast! Thank you, Father!

INDIA
We are tentatively planning to go to India this fall. We’ll have the exact dates for you next month. If you have any desire to minister in India, give it some prayer. We’d love to have you join us.

SOUTH SUDAN
Right now South Sudan is in what amounts to a civil war, so our plans there are on hold. Please keep this young country in your prayers. Once again we see Islam in the role of aggressor, Christians are being slaughtered and freedom is under attack. Jesus, may your peace and freedom reign in South Sudan.

Greetings from the Balmy North, Well, relatively balmy. We’re still in the mid 30’s, downright tropical for mid-December here. But this too, shall pass and soon enough we’ll be buried under several feet of snow and the rise of the mercury will stop in the single digits. Wow! What a trip! Or is that trips? Anyway, what a wonderful time in the Lord and with His family. ROMANIA The main goal for the Romanian leg of the trip was to meet with Pastor Adi and move ahead on the School of Ministry; and that is exactly what happened. A prime example of a divine appointment. We were in complete agreement about the form the school should take, where it should start, goals and timing. So, as soon as the holiday season is past, Mark will start working on the curriculum for the school. We hope to see the first students attending classes in the fall of 2015! If the speed with which this year has started is any indicator of what the rest of this year will be.....I may have to stop now and again to catch my breath. That thought excites me, and I hope that is exactly how it will be. My highest hope for you and me is that the perfect will of God will be accomplished in each of our lives so that multitudes will come to know Jesus our Savior, that He may be gloried and that we may be edified more and more each day.  In some ways, I am still in Thanksgiving mode. Actually, I am always in thanksgiving mode, but the news I am sharing with you now is a carryover from a $1200 project I presented to you in our October 2015 newsletter to purchase a new desktop computer for the work in India. Greetings from the Great Land, Just a bit of trivia. Alaska is the English version of Alyeska, which is Aleut for the Great Land. And it truly is a great land. Pastor Mathew Ondicho, Nairobi, Kenya This month we want to introduce you to a friend of Mark’s. His name is Mathew Ondicho and he’s a pastor and evangelist in Kenya. Mathew is one of 7 children, born into a poor, rural family. Mathew was saved at 5, and by the time he was 7 he was preaching in public. He was so small he had to stand on a table so the congregation could see him. In 2007, God called him into the slums of Nairobi, some 250 miles from his home. Since then, he has planted several churches, conducted numerous crusades and established a feeding program for orphans and widows. Pastor Mathew and his wife, Vane, work side by side to advance the Kingdom, taking ground back from the enemy.
