News From the North...
Greetings from the Great Land,
Another summer to remember. The weather has been a bit strange for our part of the world. Our normal summers consist of 60ish degree days with misty rain and a few sunny days interspersed for good measure… and mental health. This summer we have seen a lot of the sun, but we have also had a lot of heavy rain. Weird.
ROMANIA
What God is doing in Romania is mind boggling. One trip and now we are discussing how we can partner with the church there to start a school of ministry for the purpose of training their existing leaders as well as raising up the next generation! Working on that will be Mark’s primary purpose when he goes back this fall. This time, though, we believe Julie is supposed to join him.
In order for that to happen, there are several needs that have to be met. First and foremost, there are additional funds that will have to be raised. For both of us to go, that means a cost of approximately $4500-$5000.
Beyond the additional funds to go, we also need the Lord to move sovereignly in Julie’s job to make it feasible. Getting the time off is not an issue. It’s more an issue of God putting all the pieces together at the right time so that her absence will not create unnecessary problems.
Additionally, we may have family commitments with our children that will need to be covered. We know He is able in all these areas. We know that if this is His time for Julie to be able to return to the field, then He will provide for every area of need.
INDIA
We are very excited about the new direction the ministry in India is taking. Moving from the traditional conference setting to local church based ministry allows for more diverse ministry opportunities, deeper relationships and the ability to impart as well as teach. We are hopeful that the day will soon come when we will have in place various kinds of ministry opportunities besides preaching and teaching so that anyone else who would like to join us can participate in these activities.
FIELDS OF OPPORTUNITY
We continue to have doors open for additional ministry opportunities. In previous months, we discussed the possibility of South Sudan. Then very quickly on the heals of that, the country began to experience internal fighting causing them to close their borders. Consequently, this opportunity has had to be placed on hold for the time being. The organization with whom we would partner has just now been able to get visas for themselves to return and assess the needs of their people and ministry.
Recently, the Lord brought Mark together with a pastor/church planter in Kenya who also has about 30 orphans in his care. This is potentially another opportunity.
In each of these things we are weighing what, if anything, the Lord would have us do. Please pray that the Father would make His will clear and that we would have ears to hear.
Thanks again for all you do that helps us fulfill our call to the Nations. Your support, both in finances and prayer are an indispensable part of this ministry.
Yours for the Kingdom,
Mark & Julie
